Overview
Ms. Akshata Parekh is an expressive Arts Therapist and a Mental Health counselor. She has experience in counselling and supporting NICU parents. Additionally, she is a mental health consultant at Tenerity India Pvt. Ltd, and a certified drum circle facilitator at Taal Inc. She completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University (USA) and is currently pursuing her doctorate from De Montfort University, UK. Along with a post graduate certification in Counseling Psychology from Fergusson College, Pune and an International Diploma in Human Rights, Mental Health and Law, she has completed her certificate courses in Queer Affirmative Counselling practice, Dance Movement Therapy, Visual art therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming in India, Drum Circle Facilitation in USA and India and ‘Rhythm-to-recovery’. Her past work and internships have been at the Muktangan Rehabilitation Centre, Aman Setu School (Pune) and Franciscan Life Process Center, Music Settlement and Ronald McDonald House (USA). She believes in the transformative power of arts for holistic health. Her passion encourages her to advocate and spread awareness of ethical practices in the field of mental health and expressive arts therapy.
